We had a great year here at The Landmark Project! We're taking this opportunity early in the year to reflect on our accomplishments and set the tone for the year ahead. Many of you are fellow outdoor enthusiasts with an appreciation for great design, so we hope you're as excited as we are about what's to come!
As official Smokey Bear licensees, we are committed to donating a portion of our proceeds on Smokey Bear products to Smokey’s Wildfire Prevention Education fund. This past year, we’re delighted to report that we donated $110,000 to his campaign!
We made a serious effort in 2019 to substantially lessen our environmental impact, and we’re thrilled to announce that, moving forward, all Landmark Project products are now 100% plastic free! That means that (once we cycle out all our previous product), stickers and patches will no longer be packaged in plastic, no tees will have plastic tags, and all orders will ship in recyclable mailers!
As part of our desire to engage the Greenville community and encourage outdoor recreation, we hosted 37 trail runs throughout the year. Watching runners hit the trail as strangers and emerge as friends is one of the most rewarding things. We also found that getting these like-minded folks together inspired action to steward shared outdoor spaces.
The screenprint and fashion industries are notorious for their harsh impact on the environment, and we don’t see the need to be counted among these offenders. Our core values won’t allow it. In a thoughtful effort to care for the land we hold dear, we’ve implemented compost and garment recycling programs.
Throughout 2019, The Landmark Project could be found in 142 distinct retailer locations. These shops range from brick and mortar shops to major chains like REI. We love partnering with so many others in the outdoor industry!
In 2019, our flagship store celebrated a full year of business and community engagement in its beloved Greenville, SC. The store carries Landmark Project products, as well as some other favorite brands and local designs. Flagship hosted several staff parties and even a staff art show. We’re also proud to share the space with Greenville’s own Methodical Coffee.
Did you know that The Landmark Project was born out of a Greenville print shop that continues to print designs for the brand, as well as the local community? In-house printing is almost unheard of in the apparel industry, but we believe we’ve found a model that works for us!
The Landmark Project’s e-commerce platform soared to new heights in 2019 in that we shipped orders to 23 countries outside the US. We think that’s a pretty great number, especially considering that the brand draws inspiration from American landmarks!
We pride ourselves on being a rapidly growing small business. In the past year, we added ten outdoor-loving and insanely-talented individuals to our team. We couldn’t have finished out 2019 so strong without them and we’re excited to see how we’ll grow in 2020!
